Life Interrupted

17” x 17” | acrylic on canvas | 2022

I found this Spotted Towhee nest in my garden secretly tucked at the base of a bush. I was interested in its intelligent design using dried leaves, grasses and moss to create this shelter for its eggs. I decided to use it in this painting of a dried up lake bed. All of the materials used in the nest would have been available at the lake’s previous edges. The imagery continues around the 1.5” gallery wrapped sides.
