Parched

48” x 48” | acrylic on canvas | 2023

This painting features a large mud and stick nest I found near my studio, possibly built by crows or jays. The intelligence and engineering of the builders facinated me so I made several drawings before I decided to use it like a window into another realm. It floats in the sky over river rocks and shells I found along the dry river edges. Everything in the painting has been touched and changed by water.
